On December 23, 2015, Turner sold its Russian assets, including Cartoon Network to Media Alliance, a company jointly owned by National Media Group and Discovery, Inc. (formerly Discovery Communications)

On March 9, 2022, in response to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, WarnerMedia cancelled its activities in Russia and Belarus, which included the shutdown of the Russian version of Cartoon Network and Boomerang. [1]
