Cathay Pacific is the flag carrier of Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of China, and the one of five founding members of the oneworld airline alliance; the other four being American Airlines, British Airways, Canadian Airlines and Qantas. Together with its regional full-service subsidiary Cathay Dragon and its low-cost division HK Express, which it acquired in 2019, it flies to five continents.
In September 1994, Cathay Pacific launched a new identity and livery created by Landor Associates. At the heart of this identity is the brushwing symbol, a white calligraphy stroke against a green background.
In October 2014, Cathay Pacific launched a refreshed identity and brand architecture designed by Eight Partnership. The new identity retained the brushwing symbol, and freed it from the box shape to create a more contemporary look. However, the new livery was only introduced in November 2015. Repainting was completed in November 2024.
Its subsidiary, Dragonair, rebranded as Cathay Dragon in 2016 with a similar logo and livery, until its discontinuation in October 2020.
In September 2023, Cathay Pacific Airways Group rebrands as Cathay, which rollout for the corporation's global lifestyle travel expansion. The company's previous name, Cathay Pacific, currently remains as the airlines' operate name.
