cdp.pl was introduced in 2012. The name of the site has many meanings - cdp stands for "cyfrowa dystrybucja plików" (ang. digital file distribution), but doubles as an acronym for CD Projekt, the service's former owner. In April 2017, CD Projekt sold cdp.pl to Merlin Commerce Group.
