In 1982, Wang Phetchabun Company leased the former Pathumwan Palace land from the Crown Property Bureau to build the "World Trade Center" shopping center. and opened for full service in 1989.

2002–2007[]
In 2002, Wang Phetchabun Company encountered financial problems and was unable to complete construction of hotels and office buildings on schedule. This caused the Crown Property Bureau to cancel the original contract. and allow other companies to bid to manage the area further. which Central Group won the auction and has come to manage the area under the name Central World Plaza.
CentralWorld[]
2007–2018[]
After Central Group came to manage the area and completed construction of a hotel and office building. Therefore, the name of the shopping center was changed to CentralWorld.
