Central European Media Enterprises, abbreviated as CME Group, is one of the largest media companies in Central and Eastern Europe. It is currently 75% owned by WarnerMedia, a subsidiary of the American multinational conglomerate AT&T. However, on 28 October 2019, AT&T announced the sale of the CME Group to PPF Group, a Czech investment company; this will be completed in mid-2020.
CME currently operates in five European countries: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovenia, using the Nova, Markíza, Pro TV and bTV brands, respectively, for the first four countries above. Previously the group operated in Croatia (also using the Nova brand), until it sold its operations there to the United Group, a Serbian-headquartered company, in 2018.
