In 1999, CPN, the petroleum monopoly of the former communist Poland, merged with Płock-based Petrochemia Płock S.A., forming Polski Koncern Naftowy. The CPN brand was phased out in 2000, when Polski Koncern Naftowy rebranded as PKN Orlen.
In 2018, Orlen revived the CPN brand for its gas station in only one location in Warsaw.[2]
