Chester City was founded as Chester in 1885. In 1898, Chester folded after their ground was sold for housing.

In 1901, Chester was reformed.
1958-1974[]
In 1958, the club adopted Chester's coat of arms as their logo.
1974-1983[]
In 1974, a competition was organized to make a new crest for the team. the winning design featured two seals, a nod to the clubs nickname.
Chester City[]
1983-1987[]
In 1983, the club was renamed to Chester City. to mark the name change, Chester City introduced a new crest.
1987-1989[]
In 1987, the words 'Chester City Football Club' were added.
1989-1992[]
In 1989, the logo became entirely white and blue.
1992-2004[]
In 1992, red and gold were added to the logo, with the words 'Chester City Football Club' now placed below the logo.
2004-2009[]
The words 'Chester City Football Club' are once again around the logo.
2009–2010[]
The words 'Chester City Football Club' were removed from the logo.
In March 2010, the club was liquidated. A new club, Chester FC, soon started play.
