Cleveland County Council was a first-tier council in the Teeside area in the North East of England, created in 1974 in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972. Its name was originally intended to be Teeside County Council, however, this name was only included in the first bill. After the Banham Report of 1993, the Cleveland (Structural Change) Order 1995 and the Cleveland (Further Provision) Order 1995 were passed by Parliament, dissolving Cleveland and its districts became unitary authorities.
