1975–1982
The Coastliner brand for route 700 (Portsmouth - Brighton) was introduced by Southdown Motor Services in 1975.
1982–1985
Route 700 became part of Southdowns 'Stagecoach' limited stop network. Ironically, Stagecoach was also the name of the company which took over Southdown in 1989.
2000–2001
Stagecoach reintroduced the Coastliner brand in 2000 to celebrate the brands 25th anniversary.
2005–2010

2014–2021
New branding was introduced in 2014, coinciding with new buses and a new timetable. Initially branding used the name Sussex Coastliner before quickly changing to 700 Coastliner.
