The speedlines were permanently removed from the lettering in 1986. During the last years of this logo's use, it would be coloured orange and black on storefronts, similar to the next logo.
2003–2010[]
In 2003, after Kingfisher (owners of B&Q and Screwfix) sold off Comet and sister company Darty, the red and white logo was dropped in favour of a new black and orange logo on storefronts, but it did not come into effect in advertising until the "World of Electricals" campaign in August 2005.
This significantly tweaked the original logo, with the lettering being much more rounded, and a flying star being added over the wordmark. Storefronts would often have the company's website address placed near the bottom right of the logo. A new strapline was also introduced, with "Comet Sense" being replaced with "We Live Electricals" (which would later be complimented by "We Deal in your Ideal" in 2008).
This logo would continue to be used on a majority of storefronts by the time the company entered administration in 2012.
2010–2012, 2020–present[]
In September 2010, the logo was again updated. The edges of the flying star were softened, its trail was made more curved, and the Comet text appeared in fully lowercased letters for the first time. Around the same time, a new strapline ("Come and Play") was introduced. It was designed by Venturethree.
As with the previous logo, the company's website address would be placed near the bottom right of the logo on storefronts.
In November 2012, Comet went into administration, and by December 2012, all stores were closed. In 2019, the Comet name and brand was brought from its administrators by the UK Computer Group, and was relaunched as an online store in August 2020 as a trading name of Misco Technologies.
