Copa Airlines (Originally known as Companía Panameña de Aviación S.A.) is the national flag carrier of Panama. It joined the Star Alliance in 2012, and is one of the alliance’s few members not to operate widebody aircraft, along with smaller European airlines like Aegean Airlines and Croatia Airlines.
Copa Airlines was an affiliate member of SkyTeam from 2007 to 2009 when it and its partner Continental Airlines left SkyTeam. While Continental joined the Star Alliance immediately, Copa did not do so until 2012.
Following fellow partner Continental Airlines' merger with United Airlines on 3 March 2012, Copa Airlines introduced a new font similar to United to coincide with its entry into the Star Alliance. This first appeared on a newly-painted Boeing 737-800 in the Star Alliance livery.
In 2019, Copa Airlines updated its logo after its fellow partner United Airlines introduced a new livery and updated logo with a deeper blue named "United Blue". However, unlike United Airlines, Copa Airlines didn't change its livery, which remain its 1999 livery.
