Costco Wholesale was founded in September 1983 by Jim Sinegal and Jeffrey H. Brotman in Seattle, Washington. The chain merged with Price Club on October 22, 1993, after the latter declined an offer to merge with Sam's Club earlier in the year. The combined parent company would take the name PriceCostco, and each store's membership card would be accepted at either chain. Price Club founders Sol and Robert Price would leave the company in 1994 to form PriceSmart.
1997–present[]
A new logo, based on that of PriceCostco, was introduced in 1997. That same year, Price Club was fully assimilated into the Costco Wholesale brand.
