Coyote vs. Acme was initially scheduled for release in the United States on July 21, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures, but in April it was taken off the release schedule with the Barbie movie taking over its original release date.
On November 9, 2023, the film was entirely cancelled despite filming being completed. The movie was shelved with the company taking a $30 million tax write-off. Notably, it has become the third Warner Bros. film under Warner Bros. Discovery management to be shelved as a tax write-off, after Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt in 2022. Four days later, the studio reversed its decision and allowed the filmmakers to shop it to other distributors.[1]
On February 9, 2024, it was reported that Warner Bros. rejected offers from Netflix, Amazon MGM Studios, and Paramount Pictures, and in an effort to end their problems regarding the film, Warner Bros. may delete the film and claim it as a tax loss.
