In January 2017, Hrvatski Telekom bought out the shares of the Hungarian Magyar Telekom in Crnogorski Telekom (which had acquired it in 2005).
MoNet GSM launched on July 1, 2000, as part of Telecom Montenegro. Although the acquisition by Magyar Telekom was done in 2005, it was not until 26 September 2006, that the MoNet GSM operator was re-branded as T-Mobile Montenegro.
As with several other southeastern European countries, the T-Com and T-Mobile brands were replaced by the Telekom brand in 2012.
