On May 1, 2009, Funimation Channel became a 24-hour English-dubbed anime subscription network.

On December 8, 2015, it was reported that the channel would be replaced by Toku on 31 December 2015. It was subsequently announced, on 15 December 2015, that Funimation LLC would end its partnership with Olympusat and launch FunimationNow in 2016.

On October 4, 2023, Sony announced it would launch the Crunchyroll Channel as a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) network under a partnership between its Crunchyroll and Game Show Network divisions. The linear service launched on October 11, 2023.
