Culturebox is a website launched in October 2008 by France 3 as a cultural platform, offering on the internet a selection of subjects broadcast on the channel's national and regional news editions.
On 19 June 2013, the website became the cultural platform of the France Télévisions group, changing its content to offering shows (plays & concerts); some of which were broadcast live.

On 22 January 2021, France Télévisions announced the launch of Culturebox as a temporary television channel intended to "support culture" while theaters, concerts, museums and other places of culture were closed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The channel launched on 1 February the same year on the DTT channel 19, formerly occupied by France Ô. It now broadcasts on channel 14 since 3 May 2021, timesharing with France 4 at night from 20:10 to 5:00.
