DD Arun Prabha is a 24-hour terrestrial TV channel based in Itanagar, the capital city of the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It was launched on 9 February 2019.[1] It is Doordarshan's second 24-hour channel for India's northeastern states, the first being DD Northeast, based in Guwahati, Assam.
While there are several private Assamese TV channels, the Northeastern states other than Assam do not have any 24-hour TV channels; the only channels are a few Doordarshan channels which air between the afternoon and night. Therefore they are under-represented on television compared to Assam. To counter this deficit, DD Arun Prabha was launched to cover Arunachal Pradesh after delays of many years.[2]
2018 (unlaunched)[]
The channel was supposed to have launched on 15 February 2018, but this did not happen.[3] In October 2018, it was announced that plans to launch the channel had been put on hold.[4]
2019–present[]
The channel was launched on 9 February 2019.[5]
