DD National, often colloquially known by its former name DD1, is the flagship channel of Indian public TV broadcaster Doordarshan and the first TV channel to be launched in the country in 1959.

In 1976, Doordarshan and All India Radio were bifurcated. As a result, a new logo was designed by the National Institute of Design (NID).
