Days of Our Lives ended its 57-year run on NBC (and linear broadcast television) on September 9, 2022, as the network — which became the first (and as of 2024, only one) of the Big Three networks to cease airing daytime serials — opted to fill the soap’s timeslot with the NBC News Now-produced afternoon newscast NBC News Daily. Per an option that NBCUniversal exercised under a contract it signed with distributor Sony Pictures Television the year before (which renewed the series through September 2023), first-run episodes of Days moved to co-owned streaming service Peacock on September 12, 2022.
