In the 1970 and 80s, Black and Decker mostly phased out the DeWalt name from its professional line of power tools and used various logos interchangeably on the remaining products. Some models were rebranded as Black & Decker-DeWalt or simply Black & Decker.
1992–present[]
In 1992, Black & Decker started a major effort to rebrand its professional quality and high-end power tools to DeWalt. At the time, the DeWalt name still retained favorable brand recognition among professional tradesman, as opposed to Black & Decker's reputation as a line of low-end products for homeowners.
