In the first post office reform implemented on July 1, 1989, the Bundespost was divided into three divisions (also known as public enterprises). In a second round of reforms on January 1, 1995, the three divisions were privatized resulting in the Deutsche Post, Deutsche Telekom, and Deutsche Postbank.
