Dish TV is the oldest private satellite DTH television platform in India. It is owned by the Essel Group, the original owner of Zee. Along with sister company d2h, it competes with Tata Play, Airtel Digital TV, Sun Direct and the government-owned DD Free Dish.
Dish TV merged with rival Videocon d2h in 2018 after the Essel Group acquired it from the Videocon group. Videocon d2h was subsequently renamed to d2h. However, both brands have been retained as consumer-facing brands.
