Since the COVID-19 Pandemic, all Disney parks around the world have retired FastPass and replaced it with the premium virtual queue system. In 2020, both Tokyo Disney Resort and Shanghai Disney Resort announced that FastPass was retired; for Tokyo Disney Resort, the free Standby Pass became the new option, and for Shanghai Disney Resort, Disney Premier Access, a premium virtual queue introduced in 2017, became the only option. On August 18, 2021, both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort announced that the FastPass would officially be retired in favour of the new Disney Genie service, which would include a premium Genie+ option for visitors to use the "Lightning Lane". Disneyland Paris retired FastPass and replaced it with Disney Premier Access on August 5, 2021. In April 2022, both Tokyo Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland announced that Standby Pass in Tokyo and FastPass in Hong Kong were retired, which both replaced by Disney Premier Access at the same time.
