The Latin American version of Disney Channel originated in 1997 as one of DirecTV's pay-per-view offerings as Disney Weekend. This was due to a contract between Disney LA and DirecTV at that time.

On July 27, 2000, Disney Channel launched in Latin America, using the international Circles design package, but airing the same programs from the United States network. The channel also expanded through cable systems across the region.

On July 1, 2003, Disney Channel Latin America adopted the same logo as Disney Channel US that was used from 2002. The idents and graphics were created by CA Square. It was still used in some bumpers until 2014.

The official trailer for Season 5 of Phineas and Ferb shows the Reflections graphics[1], and the new Disney Channel logo is featured in the Disney+ Latin America collections section[2]. The new logo and graphics were officially introduced on August 6, 2025.
