The Latin American version of the Disney Channel was originated in 1997 as one of DirecTV's pay-per-view offerings as Disney Weekend. This was due to a contract between Disney LA and DirecTV at that time.

In 2000, the Disney Channel launched in Latin America, using the same look and logo from the UK, but airing the same programs from America. The channel also expanded through cable systems across the region.

On 15 March 2003, Disney Channel Latin America adopted the same logo as Disney Channel US that was used from 2002. The idents and graphics were created by CA Square.

On July 29, 2019, Disney Channel used its United States feed's current logo before Bia premiered in Argentina.

On October 30, 2020, the channel got a new graphic package, made by Italian studio Floppico, thus detaching itself from the original version of the United States.
