In May 2018 as Etihad's contract was nearing its expiry, the Australian branch of The Walt Disney Company purchased the naming rights to Docklands Stadium and renamed it Marvel Stadium, after their Marvel Comics divsion. The takeover took place in September and debuted that October. Aside from the renaming, they also opened a Marvel retail store within the complex and added a climbing wall, ziplines and Marvel-themed deco.
