On 1 April 2019, Dorset County Council was abolished and replaced with the Dorset Council unitary authority, merging the non-metropolitan districts of East Dorset, North Dorset, Purbeck, West Dorset, and Weymouth and Portland.
Christchurch was merged with Bournemouth, and Poole unitary authorities forming Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council.
