Newport Gwent Dragons[]
2003-2017[]

Newport Gwent Dragons were founded in 2003, during a regionalisation of top-level rugby in Wales. They were one of four new regions to join the Celtic League, along with Cardiff Blues, the Celtic Warriors, Llanelli Scarlets and Neath-Swansea Ospreys.
Dragons[]
2017-2022[]
On June 20, 2017, the club became simply Dragons, without geographical descriptors, following the lead of both the Ospreys (in 2005) and Scarlets (in 2008), who also removed their locale from their names. A new logo was also revealed.[1]
2022-present[]
