On February 15, 1981, it was announced that Burger Queen would be changing its name to Druther's. This name was chosen “for the eighties”, in a move to set the restaurant apart from being mistaken as a primarily hamburger-based chain. The new logo was officially revealed on May 10, 1981, and all restaurants began going by the new name on June 1. Once a chain of over 200 locations, as of March 2024 there is only one Druther's remaining, a former franchise located in Campbellsville, Kentucky that is now independently owned. The original Druther's company still exists, albeit as a franchisee of Dairy Queen in Indiana and Kentucky.
