E4's chunky purple logo was in use from the channel's launch on 18 January 2001 for 17 years. In July 2003, E4 launched a timeshift service called E4 +1 and in December 2009, E4 launched a high definition service called E4 HD.

On 27 September 2018, Channel 4's multi channels rebranded with E4 incorporating the Channel 4 logo; in which the 'E' from the previous logo - albeit coloured in purple - is placed in the middle of the Channel 4 logo.
