In July 2020, the Origin closed beta was launched.[1]
EA

In September 2020 it was renamed to EA Desktop. In June 2021, the word Desktop was dropped, but remains in the app's folders. It officially launched on Windows on October 6th, 2022.[2]
2023–present (Windows), 2024–present (macOS)
In 2023, the icon was modified, the circle of the EA logo changed from coral to a unique orange gradient, to differentiate the app's logo from the company. In May 2024 the EA app was launched on macOS, though Origin will continue to be supported for older versions of macOS.
