EVA Air is one of three full-service airlines in Taiwan, the others being flag carrier China Airlines, and Starlux Airlines, owned by shipping conglomerate Evergreen Group. EVA (pronounced with the letters spoken individually) is an acronym for Evergreen Airways.
EVA Air joined the Star Alliance in 2013, two years after China Airlines joined SkyTeam.
