On March 29, 2002, Edion was founded as a holding company of two regional electronics retailers Deodeo and Eiden. On October 1, 2009, Edion's three subsidiaries were reorganized into Edion East (Eiden, which had acquired Ishimaru Denki in the same year) and Edion West (Deodeo and Midori Denka, which Edion acquired the latter in 2005). Edion merged Edion East and Edion West outright in the following year.
