Edmonton Oilers began play in the World Hockey Association, spending their first season (1972–73) as the Alberta Oilers. When that league merged with the National Hockey League in 1979, the Oilers moved to the NHL.

From the 2011-12 season, the team made the 1972 logo their primary one and used the 1996 primary as an alternate logo.

2017–present

Edmonton Oilers

The team changed its colors to a darker shade of blue and a brighter shade of orange. The logo was updated on June 20, 2017 during the reveal of the new NHL Adidas jerseys.
