On 1997, Alejandro Romay sell the channel to the Australian group Prime Media. The channel gets a major rebranding, now as "Azul Televisión".

On 2002, under the new management of Daniel Hadad, the channel reverts its name to the former one, "Canal 9". This logo is commonly known as "la sirena" (the beacon light) because the red part of the logo, a huge box with a white "9", was constantly spinning on screen.

On 2017, the channel rebrands as "El nueve" (stylized as "elnueve"), and adopts a new logo: a red/pink ring that subtly resembles a number 9.
