Enco was a brand of Standard Oil of New Jersey for their stations and products in the parts of the United States where they were not permitted to use the Esso brand. This name was launched in California in 1960, when Standard Oil of New Jersey entered the market. In 1961 and 1962, The Humble, Carter, Pate, and Oklahoma names were replaced by the new Enco name. The name was changed to Exxon in 1972 in most states. Enco still survived in the midwest until 1983 when Exxon and its Enco brand pulled out of the Great Lakes states.
