Due to the cancellation of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on 18 May 2020, the original date for the planned grand final, the EBU aired a celebratory show on the Eurovision network, called Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light. The show's title was taken from the title of the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 winning song "Love Shine a Light' by Katrina and the Waves.
