The 2011 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest was held at the Esprit Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany. The 2010 edition, held in Oslo, Norway, was won by German singer Lena Meyer-Landrut with her song "Satellite". Therefore, Germany, represented by public broadcaster ARD, got to host the 2011 contest. Since ARD’s regional affiliate in Northern Germany, NDR, oversees Germany’s participation at the contest, it was responsible for staging the event.

The semi-finals were held on 10 and 12 May, and the grand final on 14 May. Azerbaijan won the contest, represented by Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (together known as Ell & Nikki) and their song "Running Scared".

Eurovision Song Contest 2011

The theme for the contest was "Feel Your Heart Beat!". The theme art for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 was unveiled on 13 January 2011. The visual identity was created by the London agency Turquoise.
