The 2019 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest was held at the Expo Tel Aviv in Tel Aviv, the largest city in Israel. Israel won the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal, represented by Netta Barzilai with her song "Toy". Therefore Israel, represented by public broadcaster Kan, got to host the 2019 edition.
The semi-finals were held on 14 and 16 May, and the grand final on 18 May. The Netherlands won the contest, represented by Dutch singer Duncan Laurence and his song "Arcade". Therefore, a Dutch city like Amsterdam, Eindhoven or Rotterdam will host the 2020 edition. The event will be co-hosted by the NPO, the umbrella public broadcasting organisation in the Netherlands, and two of its members, AVROTROS and NOS.
This was the fifth Eurovision victory for the Netherlands, as it joined France, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom for the third-highest number of Eurovision victories (after Sweden, with six, and Ireland, with seven).
