On 7 October 2022, Liverpool was announced as the host city of the contest, the same day the generic logo was unveiled. The Eurovision heart, which typically has the flag of the host country placed in its centre, contains the Ukrainian flag for this year to reflect the country's win the previous year. Because of this and to still indicate the host country, the 'Song Contest' text was accompanied below by 'United Kingdom' and further down by 'Liverpool 2023'. Liverpool is a sister city of Odesa, Ukraine.
