FX is an American pay television channel owned by the Walt Disney Television division of The Walt Disney Company. Originally launched on June 1, 1994, the network's original programming aspires to the standards of premium cable channels in regard to mature themes and content, high-quality writing, directing and acting.

It was formerly a tie-up with the Fox television network until March 20, 2019, when Disney acquired most of 21st Century Fox's assets, including FX, FXX and FXM.

FX was launched on June 1, 1994, with the "f" in its name rendered in lower-case to portray a type of relaxed friendliness. The stylized "X" represents the channel's roots: the crossing searchlights of the 20th Century Fox logo.

In early 1997, the channel underwent a major relaunch and shifted its target audience to people aged 18 to 49. A new logo was also introduced that retained the searchlights but rendered the channel's name in a new all-caps font. This logo was still used for FX Productions until it became FXP in 2016 (three years after the 2013 logo was introduced).

On December 18, 2007, the searchlights were removed from the 1997 logo, leaving only the wordmark.

On April 3, 2013, FX adopted the logo of its international counterparts, which connected the two letters to complement its sister networks FXX and FXM.
