FaceMash

2003–2004

Facebook was originally launched on October 28, 2003 as FaceMash. The site was later shut down in 2004.

2004–2005

On February 4, 2004, FaceMash was replaced by a new social website under the name of Thefacebook (stylized as [thefacebook]). Also, the creator, Mark Zuckenberg, made it blue because he was color-blind.

2005–2015

Thefacebook was renamed under its current name on August 23, 2005, with a logo set in the Klavika font. This logo is still used on the loading page, some ads, and some subscriptions.

2015–present

2015–2020

A slightly different logo with a newer typeface was introduced on July 1, 2015. Despite a new logo for mobile apps was unveilded in 2019, this one was still used on the main website until May 31, 2020.

New Logo for Facebook done In-house with Eric Olson - Brand New

2019–present

On April 30, 2019, Facebook refreshed the 2015 logo and revealed a new icon. The logo was inverted, removing the background, and the typeface is now colored in a brighter shade of blue. When it debuted, it was only seen on mobile apps from September 2019, but on June 1, 2020 it was started to be used on the main website.
