In February 2024, Factory Direct announced that they would begin liquidating and closing its stores, citing falling demand caused by inflation and saying that business was "no longer viable." This announcement came after the retailer experienced operating losses of approximately $1.7 million in the 11-month period which ended on November 30, 2023.[1] These announcements came out around the same time that another large Ontario-based retailer, Lastman's Bad Boy, filed for bankruptcy and shuttered operations. In April 2024, the last remaining Factory Direct location was closed.
