Festival RTP da Canção, also known as Festival da Canção, is the Portuguese national song selector festival to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Before the first national song selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, RTP launched a national song contest, named Festival da Canção Portuguesa. It had only 3 editions and there was no standard logo yet.

1964–2008[]

The first edition of a national song selection for the Eurovision Song Contest was in 1964 but as the Eurovision Song Contest, there was no standard logo used in the first decades of the contests. Also, there were a some ditions with different names than the standard one used today as:

  • Grande Prémio TV da Canção Portuguesa (1964–1975)
  • Uma Canção Para a Europa (1976)
  • As Sete Canções (1977)
  • Uma Canção Portuguesa (1978)
  • Seleção Interna para o Eurofestival (1988, 2005)
  • Operação Triunfo (2003–2004)

The first standard logo was created in 2008. It was used for the 2008 and 2009 editions. It was also used in the pre-launch logo of the 2010 edition.

2011–2012[]

The second standard logo was created in 2011, as the on in the 2010 edition was only used once. It was used for the 2011 edition and in the pre-launch logo of the 2012 edition. This logo uses the 2004 logo of Eurovision Song Contest.
