In 1973, Field Communications took over a minority stake in Kaiser Broadcasting, but it wasn't until after its outright purchase by Field in 1978 that WKBS-TV changed its logo to the standard Field-styled branding. The station went off the air on August 30, 1983, when no suitable buyer emerged for the station after a nasty dispute over the operation of Field Communications between brothers Marshall Field V and Frederick W. Field resulted in the liquidation of their company, including their broadcasting interests
