1963–1970[]

Because of its informal nature, the nickname "Coke" only first widely appeared in the "Things go better with Coke" ad campaign, which began in January 1963. Test marketing of this slogan began in a handful of states in the Midwestern United States, but a wordmark of the slogan first appeared in Canada. The American version, with a modified C, was introduced four months later in September. This original Canadian version was used from May 1963 until being retired in April 1970 like its American counterpart, in favor of "It's the real thing".
