After 1974, the Rockets name was abandoned in favor of Nuggets. The reason was in anticipation of a merger between the American Basketball Association and National Basketball Association; which already had a team in Houston named the Rockets.

On June 6, 2018, the Denver Nuggets unveiled new logos and uniforms. In a similar situation to the Cleveland Cavaliers' rebrand in 2017, the Nuggets also introduced a global and domestic logo.
