NOTE: The "9" logo at the top of this image was used by the station for local branding purposes until approximately 1982. The logos below (excluding the 1978 signoff video) up until that year were used only as an opening ident for programs produced by the station that were aired nationally to other PBS stations.
Beginning around the late 1970s, the station referred to itself as KCTSeattle (9); this branding would hold until 1992.

1983–1992[]
The KCTSeattle (9) branding was retained, but Avant Garde ITC became the station's signature font, which they used until 1999. During this time, KCTS was spun off by the University of Washington, and converted to a community licensee in 1987.
NOTE: The 1985 sign-off film shows the 1970s-era logo.
1992–1999[]
The station abandoned the KCTSeattle (9) branding, but kept Avant Garde ITC for its branding.

1999–2006[]
The "sunburst" in this logo was also used by Detroit and Houston PBS member stations WTVS and KUHT, respectively; by 1999, KCTS used Futura Bold for its branding, which it has done since.
