MTN-9 Griffith began transmission on 15 December 1965. The callsign stood for Murrumbidgee Television New South Wales. A relay station is later setup at Hay on VHF-5A.

The high costs of operating a TV station in a small market led MTN-9 to join up with Dubbo and Orange stations CWN-6 and CBN-8 and form the Television 6-8-9 Network which combined the logos of CBN/CWN and MTN-9.

1989–1998[]
After the government deemed Griffith and the M.I.A. too small a market for aggregation, MTN was abandoned by Prime Television in 1989. It then took up an affiliation with WIN Television, which was a Nine Network affiliate in Southern NSW.

1998–2000[]
WIN Corporation brought MTN and AMN from then-owner Associated Media Investments on 6 July 1998. Following the sale of the station, minor changes occurred, including MTN changed its on-air branding from MTN9 to WIN, and the news service rebranded as WIN News.

Changes in the Broadcasting Services Act saw the M.I.A. region acquire a third TV license on 14 June 2011. The new digital-only station, using the callsign MDN and broadcasting on UHF-32, launched on 13 January 2012.

After failing to sue Nine for violating their contract by opening 9Now, AMN switched affiliation from Nine to Network Ten on 1 July 2016.
