New Delhi Television, commonly known as NDTV, is the first privately-owned television news company in India, having been founded in 1988. NDTV originally produced news programmes for state broadcaster Doordarshan,1 then for STAR News from 1998 to 2003, before launching its own 24-hour TV news channels (NDTV 24x7 and NDTV India) in 2003.
