This logo is very similar to how the 1930s logos looked like; in export markets outside of the company's native Japan, the Datsun name would be phased out in favor of Nissan starting in 1983, with the transition being completed by 1986.
A new logo was unveiled on January 8, 2001 at the North American International Auto Show. It was first previewed on the Alpha-T Concept and Z Concept. The first production vehicle to be sold using this logo was the third generation Nissan Primera, which was launched in Japan on January 30, 2001.
The last redesigned vehicle to use this logo was the third generation Nissan Qashqai that was unveiled in Europe on February 18, 2021 (later replaced with the next logo below in 2022). This logo is still used on some existing car models as of 2022.
